FAQs

1. What is book origami?
This art form goes by many names - book origami, book sculpture, folded book art.  In short, the process involves painstakingly folding the pages of a book to create a pattern, word, animal, etc.

2. Do you cut the book pages to create book sculptures?
Absolutely not.  When I create book origami, I never cut, glue, draw on, or otherwise alter the book pages.  These folded book art pieces are created by folding the pages.

3. How long does it take to make a custom book origami piece?

The processing time for custom book sculptures depends largely on our current order backlog.  Typically, during the holiday season, our processing time is up to 6 weeks.  Folded book art could be completed as quickly as 2 weeks during slower ordering seasons.  If you need your order quickly, please email me at [email protected].

4. What if I need my custom book sculpture by a certain date?
Please email me at [email protected] to discuss Rush Processing options.

5. How do you ship your book origami orders?

I use USPS Priority Mail to ship all folded book art orders.  Typically, your book origami order will arrive 2-3 days after shipping.  Express shipping options are available for an additional charge.

6. Where do you find the books you use?
I scour thrift stores, garage sales, and my grandparents' attic to find books that are being discarded.  My goal is to give them a new life and to prevent them from ending up in a landfill.

7. Can I choose a book for you to use to create my book origami order?
There are certain criteria books must meet in order to be used in this art form.  If you have a specific book in mind, please contact me and I will let you know if your book will work.

8. How did you learn how to create folded book art?
I spent many hours, days, weeks, and months going through the trail and error process to hone my skills.  I discovered the art form and came up with a process to create original pieces.  The end result is Honeysuckle Salvage book origami.

9. Can you teach me how to create book origami?
Because I want to protect my original designs and the skills I've refined, I don't sell patterns or offer lessons on creating book origami.  It's a process that requires great patience and attention to detail, and I believe everyone has their own unique approach to creating these pieces.
